In common parlance, \u00abheadhunting\u00bb refers to precisely this approach. In the past, companies used this method exclusively for the search for top executives, while other vacancies were usually filled via traditional job adverts. However, with the increasing <a href=\"https:\/\/karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-skills-shortage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shortage of skilled labour<\/a>, it became increasingly difficult to find suitable candidates for all hierarchical levels in re-sponse to reactive <a href=\"https:\/\/karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">applications<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>LinkedIn democratised headhunting<\/h2>\n<p>Today, direct search is therefore used much more widely. With the advent of <a href=\"https:\/\/karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-social-networks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social networks<\/a> &#8211; above all <a href=\"https:\/\/karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-linkedin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a> &#8211; it has become much easier to identify and target suitable profiles. In addition to headhunters, specialised <a href=\"https:\/\/karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-recruiter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recruiters<\/a> from the HR departments of companies themselves are now also contacting potential candidates directly. Direct search is therefore likely to become even more important in <a href=\"https:\/\/karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-recruitment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recruitment<\/a> in the future.
