Job interview

What really matters

The job interview is the key moment in any application process. If you’re invited, your qualifications are sufficient – now it’s about fit. Companies want to know not just whether you can do the job, but whether you’ll thrive in the role and environment. Strengths, weaknesses, and working style can’t be assessed through documents alone – they only emerge in conversations or assessment centres. Storytelling is a powerful tool: by sharing real experiences, you allow interviewers to visualize how you work. And just as companies assess you, you also get to assess them – is this the culture and team you want to join?

Preparation goes beyond company research

Many candidates read up on the company – but forget to prepare themselves. They assume their own career stories are top of mind. But there’s a big gap between doing something and being able to talk about it. Routine makes us forget what we’re good at. Real preparation starts with analysing the job ad, identifying key experiences and strengths, and turning them into compelling stories. Equally important: your own questions. After all, you’re choosing too.
